Shoes of Peace

Updated: Aug 5, 2019

“and having shod your feet with preparing the Gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15)

This week I will discuss the shod of peace. “and having shod your feet with preparing the Gospel of peace.” (Ephesians 6:15) I am sure that most of you know ‘shod’ is another word for shoe. I think it is odd to compare the great news of the Gospel as ‘shoes.’ What are some of the things you think of when you hear “Gospel of peace?” You think of the salvation we receive in Jesus Christ. You think of His great love for us. But what are we to do with the Gospel of peace? We are to share it. We are to go to the ends of the earth to share the Gospel of peace, love, and salvation. In Isaiah 52:7 we read, “How on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news. Who announces peace and brings the good news of happiness, who announces salvation, and says to Zion, ‘Your God Reigns.” Everywhere we go we should bring peace. How can we show God’s love when we argue or bring discord? God calls us to build one another up in peace (Romans 14:19). Let us put on our magic shoes and walk in peace with one another, sharing God’s love, and peace.

God calls us to build one another up in peace

(Romans 14:19)
